LAMKA: T . Dongzapau , 67, a resident of Mualveng has succumbed to his injury on Sunday night.
T Dongzapau was injured in his abdomen when a police constable on duty accidentally fired from his service weapon at the felicitation programme of Olympic Games medalist M.C Mary Kom on Sunday near Public Ground in Churachandpur headquarters in south Manipur.
On Monday, the district police reached to an understanding with the victim’s family members after a compromise deal.
The Paite Tribe Council (PTC) Young Paite Association (YPA) and the Siamsinpawlpi ( SSPP) said the “shooting and killing” of T. Dongzapau, Hiangtam Lamka by the state police constable with his service rifle, was another shocking incident which exposed the lack of discipline in the rank and file of the state forces.
These civil bodies said no armed groups should be permitted to carry out such “devilish act” and disturb the peace and communal harmony in the district in particular and the state as a whole. (NNN)
