NONGSTOIN: With less than 15 days to go before the deadline given to the state government by Pynskhemlang Nongshlong for reconstruction of the Dorbar Hall of the Hima Raid Mynsaw along with other demands, the agitator is gearing up for the second phase of protests.

Nongshlang however, informed that he would meet Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma before the deadline ends for resolution of the issues at hand.

The youth from Langpih who went on a fast-unto-death over the Assam-Meghalaya border row had demanded the reconstruction of the Dorbar Hall of the Hima Raid Mynsaw at Langpih, the completion of the market shed, the up gradation of the police outpost etc. and conducted many meetings in Langpih, Nongstoin and lastly in Shillong.

The meeting at the Khasi National Durbar in Shillong on Saturday last, was attended by hundreds of villagers from the border area including the villagers from Langpih, Block I and Block II. Talking to mediapersons here on Monday Nongshlong said that he along with his supporters will resume the fast-unto-death if the government did not fulfil their demands.

The venue for the agitation is yet to be decided. However, reliable sources informed that the fast could be held at Nongpoh.

The 28-year-old youth from West Khasi Hills district, had gone on an indefinite fast from June 30 along with a few others demanding solution to the vexed border dispute between Meghalaya and Assam.
