TURA: The only Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Baghmara, South Garo Hills is in a pathetic and desolate condition with the institute imparting training on only one course for electrician.
It has been quite a while since the ITI was established in Baghmara but till date noting has been done to improve or cater to a decent percentage of the needs of the people of the region.
The Baghmara ITI on top of providing only one course to its students is managed by only one instructor who also looks after the institute premises. Lamenting the dearth of equal opportunities for the people of the region the South Zone, Baghmara Garo Students Union, have demanded the immediate upgradation of the Baghmara ITI and appointment of a Vice Principal to effectively and efficiently look after the institute.
The Union has also demanded the immediate inclusion of courses like Motor Vehicle Mechanism, Fruits and Vegetables Processing, Cutting and Tailoring and I.T.E.S.M in the Industrial Training Institute for the greater benefit of the people of the region.
