Shillong: The KSU Mairang Unit has asked the State Government to announce the names of the colleges deemed to be upgraded to government colleges.

Demanding upgradation of the Tirot Sing Memorial College at Mairang, KSU Mairang president Marshall Diengdoh said, “The growing competition has given rise to many aspiring young people who are ever determined to move higher in education and upgradation of this college would probably give equal opportunities even to the poorer section of the society.”

“Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has stated that this college is among the other colleges in the top list which will be upgraded to government colleges,” Diengdoh said, while referring to the announcement by the Chief Minister during the birth anniversary celebration on U Tirot Sing Syiem at Mairang.

The Union has also asked the government to speed up the process to upgrade the college.
