Intl conference

Dr SP Saikia, Dr A Deka and Dr Valensa Suring from Mission Trust and Bawri Nethralaya, Shillong have been invited to the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons’ conference in Milan, Italy from September 8-12 to present 7 international presentations and thereafter two presentations in the International Agency for Prevention and Blindness of the WHO General Assembly.

Annual meet

The Annual meet of the Don Bosco Past Pupils’ Association, Shillong will be held on September 16 at 9 am at the Don Bosco Technical School.

The Laban Bengalee Boys’ HS School will celebrate its 89th foundation day on September 13 at its school premises.

Hindi Diwas

The Meghalaya Hindi Prachar Praishad will observe Hindi Diwas on September 14 at Rup Rekha Secondary School and a souvenir Deep Sikha will be released on the day. Four prominent personalities of Meghalaya will be felicitated on the occasion. The Shillong Darpan, the first Hindi newspaper from Meghalaya, will celebrate eight years of its publication on the same venue.

Unclaimed body

The body of a suspected labour (25-30 yrs), who committed suicide by hanging inside the PWD temporary shed at Oak Land on September 6 at 4 pm, is lying in the Shillong Civil Hospital morgue. Police have asked the relatives to collect the body for the last rites.

Seminar

The institution of Estate Managers and Appraisers, Kolkata in collaboration with IGNOU institute for vocational education and training is organising a seminar on Fundamentals of valuation of assets-Its academics, professions and practices on Wednesday at 10.30 am at IIVET, Bellevue Mansion, behind Shillong Law College.

Interactive session

St Anthony’s College will hold a talk and an interactive session with former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Navin B Chawla, at 10.30am in the conference hall of the college on Tuesday.

Blood donation

A voluntary blood donation camp will be organised by St Anthony’s College from 10am onwards in the college’s conference hall on Wednesday.

Training

The Bharat Scouts and Guides in collaboration with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is organising a one-day training of volunteers on Tuesday from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Tree plantation

The Shillong Assamese Ladies welfare club celebrated the birth anniversary of late Dr Bhupen Hazarika on September 8 on the Assam Club premises by planting trees in the campus.
