Unitarian Day
The Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills has informed that all State Government offices and educational institutions located in the district shall remain closed on September 18 on account of Unitarian Day.
Torch procession
The Unitarian Church of NE India, as part of its year-long celebrations of the 125th Anniversary of the birth of Khasi Unitarianism, will organise a torch procession on September 14 at 6pm from Unitarian Church Laban to the Additional Secretariat Parking Lot.
Exhibition
The Department of Mass Media, St. Anthony’s College will organise a photography exhibition entitled ‘Youth Expressions’ which will showcase a special attraction and will introduce the Art Installations by the department from September 13-15 at the College Conference Hall.
Prohibition
The Dorbar Shnong Umpling has prohibited dumping of waste soil in the road side at Pynnoh Itshyrwat leading to NEIGRIHMS and along the road side to Nongrah besides other areas under the jurisdiction of the Dorbar Shnong.
Hostel inauguration
Shillong College will inaugurate the college’s women hostel at 11am on September 15. Union Minister of State for Water Resources and Minority Affairs Vincent H Pala will be the chief guest.
Black Day
The Kukis of Meghalaya would observing Sahnit Ni (Black Day) on Thursday to mourn those who died unnatural death and to pay tributes to the departed souls of over 900 Kukis who sacrificed their lives for the protection of Kuki territory during the NSCN(IM) ethnic cleansing policy in the 1990s.
General meeting
The Meghalaya Limestone Truck Owners & Suppliers Association will hold a meeting on September 14 at 11am at 7 Mer Upper Shillong, Madan Umdiengpun to discuss issues pertaining to the decision of the Supreme Court on the amount of limestone to be loaded by the trucks.
Workshop
A two-day workshop & seminar on pre-marriage & post marriage counseling will be organised by the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) Shillong at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah on September 19 and 20 from 10am.
Cleaning drive
Super Boys Sports & Cultural Club, Riatsohklur, 3rd Mile conducted a cleaning drive at Gorkha Shamshan Ghat (Mawbah) on Sunday. The drive was led by founder member K Joshi apart from members of the club including committee president Dhurbalok Thapa and others.
