New Delhi: Girls from two schools in Nagaland and Manipur hammered their opponents in the U-17 girls category of the Subroto Cup football tournament on Thursday.

Government Higher Secondary School (Nagaland) thrashed a Maharashtra school 6-1 with Lhaitinlam scoring four goals for the winning team.

NCC School of Imphal did even better in a match against Afghanistan, where the Manipur team demolished their rivals 9-0.

Neither game was as one-sided, however, as the clash between Government High School (Haryana) and a school from Car Nicobar. The Haryana team won their goal-filled match 17-0, with as many as four girls scoring hat-tricks.

Meanwhile, a school from Tamil Nadu reached the quarterfinals after defeating Daly College, Indore, by five goals to nil. (PTI)
