Abducted tea garden manager rescued

Itanagar: A tea garden manager who was abducted from his residence at Piyong by three masked and heavily armed United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF) cadres at gun-point in the evening of September 12, has been rescued on Saturday night by security forces from Wagun Pathar in Piyong circle under Namsai sub-division in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The Manager of Piyoung based Sati Tea Estate, C N Pandey was alone at his home when he was abducted.

Immediately after the incident, a joint operation had been started by police, CRPF and Army.

The security forces cordoned off the entire area and launched combing operation in search of the abducted manager, district official sources informed UNI over phone here today. Following incessant effort, finally security forces succeeded in rescuing Mr Pandey from the jungle of Wagun Pathar last night at 2315 hrs and he was alright, sources said.

No arrest had been made in this connection, however, efforts were on to nab the culprits.

The rescue was possible only due to continuous pressure mounted by joint security forces on the underground activists, sources said, adding, the miscreants have no option except to release the abducted manger. (UNI)
