New traffic arrangement in Jowai

 JOWAI: With an aim to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in Jowai town, the District head-quarter of West Jaintia hills, the Jowai Traffic Police (JTP) has made a new traffic arrangement which will be implemented immediately.

According to a release by the In charge of Jowai Traffic Police, all Tata Sumos parking at Wah-gate area and Maruti-Vans plying as Maxi cabs, parking in Shallam-Syngkon Petrol pump on the Jowai-Shillong road will be allowed to park only on one side of the road.

Thomas Jones road will be a one-way traffic where vehicles going from Iawmusiang toward Thomas Jones Synod College will be allowed and no vehicle coming toward Iawmusiang is allowed.

No vehicles should embark and disembark passengers on the road. All local taxis and maxi cabs are requested to embark or disembark their passengers only on their respective stands.

The stand near Jowai PS will be used for local taxis only for the first two lines in the front and all private vehicles will be parked in the rear end of the stand

All local taxis plying from DC toward Mission compound will be allowed to park on the road as per the parking line marked.

All bazaar buses will be allowed to unload their loads only before 8:00am and all Tata Sumos embarked for Shillong passengers near Exotica, Lad-kynruh saphlang will be allowed to ply only before 7:00am.

The release also stated that driving under the influence of alcohol, use of mobile phones while driving, smoking and parking in no parking zone is violation of traffic rules and any one found indulging in such acts will be dealt with proper section of law.
