Shillong: Local residents of Dona Ummluh village in East Jaintia Hills on Tuesday apprehended a Bangladeshi infiltrator while he was trying to cross over to India.

Members of the Village Defense Party (VDP) stated that the infiltrator identified as Sulaiman Talukdar was apprehended while he was trying to board a vehicle.

He was later handed over to the nearby police station.

The villagers have, meanwhile, criticised the State Government’s negligence of the issue and demanded action in this regard.
