Shillong: Leader of the Opposition Conrad Sangma on Thursday expressed confidence that the National People’s Party (NPP) would taste major success in the upcoming State election.
“In 2013 the State will be governed by the NPP along with its coalition partners,” Sangma said here.
He further stated that the State will finally undergo a transformation from the Congress’s style of only laying foundation stones to actually implementing those projects. Slamming the Congress-led MUA government for the delay in implementing different projects in the State, Sangma said till date, the government has been unable to pay the dues of the contractors which has gone up to Rs 250 crore.
NPP (Meghalaya unit) president Dr WR Kharlukhi also criticized the Congress, saying that though the party claims to be considerate towards the tribals, its actions speak otherwise.
The Congress declined support to Purno A Sangma in the Presidential polls just like they had done in 1992 when they denied support to Prof GG Swell when he had contested for the President’s post.
