SHILLONG: The newly formed National People’s Party (NPP) has formed an Election Manifesto Committee to prepare the agenda which the party will highlight during the upcoming Assembly elections.
State unit president of NPP, Dr WR Kharlukhi, in a statement issued here on Saturday, said the party has notified the Election Manifesto Committee which will be headed by Dr Charles Reuben Lyngdoh and the committee will be responsible to prepare the manifesto of the party for the elections.
Dr Kharlukhi also appointed Dr SL Marbaniang as the spokesperson of the NPP State Unit with immediate effect.
In the core committee meeting of the NPP held at its party office on Saturday, the party also discussed issues related to public importance.
The party also took stock of the recent statement made by arrested GNLA chairman Champion Sangma about the decision of the outfit to support the Congress party in the elections.
The NPP felt that this statement reflected the desperation of the Congress party to come to power at any cost in 2013.
