Winter Session

The Winter Session of the KHADC will commence from October 16 at 11am.

Exhibition

N-E Service of AIR, Shillong will organise an exhibition-cum-demonstration on ‘Preparedness and Better Coordination During Natural Disasters’ in collaboration with Civil Defense and Home Guards at Umsawli, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong on Friday at 10am.

Lok Adalat

The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the West Khasi Hills District Administration will organise a Lok Adalat at Nongstoin Public School on October 13. The purpose is to settle the long pending compoundable cases by way of amicable compromise through appointed conciliators.

Panel discussion

The KSU, NEHU Unit, will organise a panel discussion on ‘Do we need the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the State’ at Science Seminar Hall, NEHU on Friday from 1pm. Panelists include Patricia Mukhim, Dr Fenela L Nonglait, Daniel Khyriem, Rev Dr OL Snaitang, Robert G Lyngdoh, Harlinjai Skhemmlon, MS Sumer and AK Nongkynrih.

Village Dorbar

The Dorbar Shnong Mawkhar will convene a village dorbar for electing new office bearers on Saturday at the Khasi National Dorbar Hall, Mawkhar at 7:30am.

World Rabies Day

The Ri-Bhoi district unit of the Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association will observe the World Rabies Day by conducting a free vaccination camp for pet dogs at the Umroi Veterinary Dispensary on Friday.

Album release

A musical compilation entitled Ka Lynti….Life So Far will be released on Friday at the conference hall of St Anthony’s HS School, Laitumkhrah.

Dry Day

The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has declared October 2 as ‘Dry Day’ on account of Gandhi Jayanti. All IMFL shops, bars, hotels, retail outlets and bounded warehouses will remain closed on that day.

Grievances cell

The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has asked the public to report to the administration grievances related to implementation of the Mid Day Meal Scheme in the district through the Grievances Redressal Mechanism Cell constituted under the DC.

IMFL seized

In a drive against sale of illicit liquor in restaurants and stalls, both in the city and outskirts, conducted by the DC (Excise), East Khasi Hills, about 49 cases of IMFL were seized. 49 people were arrested under the Excise Act.

Conference

The 30th general conference of the Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association will be held on Saturday at Dinam Hall, Synod College. Former Rajya Sabha MP BB Dutta will be the chief guest on the occasion.
