SHILLONG: The alleged interference of PWD Minister HDR Lyngdoh leading to the transfer of a PWD official has irked his Cabinet colleague John Anthony Lyngdoh.
The Social Welfare Minister, on Thursday, alleged that the Section Officer, Karlenstar Lyngdoh, of Mawphlang Sub-Division PWD (Roads) was transferred on the orders of the PWD Minister after being pressurised by a contractor Beland Nongbri.
Sources informed that the contractor had asked the PWD officer to prepare excess bill, while warning that if he did not accede to the demand, he would be transferred.
Meanwhile, villagers under Hima Mawphlang have taken strong exception over the arbitrary transfer of the PWD official.
‘If the Government does not revoke the transfer order we would be force to lock the Mawphlang Sub Division PWD (Roads) office,” the villagers said in a statement.
