Road closed
The Phlangsynnei-Tynger-Dessaw road had been closed from October 4 due to land slide at 5th kilometres. Restoration work is in progress and road communication is expected to resume from October 10
Mental health day
San-ker will observe world Mental Health Day on October 10. Various activites like debate and essay competitions will be held in the weeks leading up to the day.
Felicitation

The Star Cement organised a free eye operation camp recently. Around 50 patients benefited from the camp.
Memorial lecture
The ICFAI University Meghalaya, Shillong Campus will organise the 1st NJ Yasaswy Memorial Lecture to commemorate the first death anniversary of N J Yasaswy, one of the founder members of the ICFAI Society. A Lecture will be delivered by Prof. A. N. Rai, Vice Chancellor, NEHU at 3 p.m. at the Eldorado Hall, Dhanketi on Monday.
Quiz competition
The District Tuberculosis Control Society (DTCS), West Khasi Hills organized a quiz competition for schools in Nongstoin Block as part of its advocacy communication and social mobilization activities. Anderson Higher Secondary School bagged the 1st prize in the competition.
Mock drill
The Block Administration, Mawthadraishan, in collaboration with the Pariong Prebyterian Higher Secondary School and Pariong and adjoining villages organised a mock drill cum training programme on earthquake on the October 3 and 4 at Pariong. Members of the village disaster management team among others participated in the drill.
Felicitation
The Jaintia Students Union (JSU) will felicitate meritorious SSLC, HSSLC and degree students of all streams who excelled in the final examinations 2012. The fecilitation programme will be organised at the District Library Auditorium on October 26.
FKJGP meet
The meeting of the FKJGP General Executive Council (GEC) will be held in Jaiaw Shyiap at the Lumpyllon Community Hall on Monday at 11 am. The oath taking ceremony of the new members of the federation would take place during the GEC meeting.
