SHILLONG: The State Government has refused to take the issue of arrest of the HANM’s Western Ri-Bhoi Zone president, K Thongni with Assam Government saying that he (Thongni) was wanted in connection with a criminal case.
“The Assam police had issued an arrest warrant against the HANM leader,” Home Minister HDR Lyngdoh told reporters here on Tuesday.
According to Lyngdoh, it is upto the court to grant him bail.
Earlier, the HANM had sought intervention of the Home Minister for the immdiate release of Thongni.
