Six struck by lightning in South West Khasi Hills

 SHILLONG: Six cowherds were struck by lightning while taking shelter at Phaudjaud Rangphong Village under Mawkyrwat Block, South West Khasi Hills, on Tuesday.

The victims, Michael Syiemlieh (15 M), Shiningstar Syiemlieh (13 M), Damonlang Syiemlieh (4 M), Banteilang Wanniang (13 M), Kalvinstar Syiemlieh (12 M) and one Ibashisha Syiemlieh (9 F) were admitted to Mawkyrwat CHC.

In other cases, a passenger bus (MLO1 – 3133) travelling towards Umran from Jowai on Wednesday morning hit a tree near the Barapani Police Station. One Pasting Laloo (62 M), Lisky Suna (58 M) and Deibormi Bareh (40 F) were shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.

A Sumo travelling towards Shillong from Guwahati, on Wednesday noon, went off the road at Mawiong near MECOFED Office. One Victoria Sohphoh (40 F), sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.

In another accident, one Jisdalin Sohkhia (35 F) sustained injuries after she was hit by a vehicle at Mawlai Mawdatbaki, on Tuesday evening. Jisdalin Sohkhia was shifted to Dr. H. Gordon Robert Hospital, Shillong. In another similar accident, one Ravin Sangma (22 M) was hit by a vehicle near ITI at Araimile in Tura, on the same day. Ravin Sangma was shifted to Tura Civil Hospital.

An auto rickshaw was involved in a head on collision with a local taxi at the junction of 4th Furlong, Shillong on Tuesday evening. A motorist also sustained injuries during the accident after he fell off his motorbike. Sumit Rai (21 M) and a passenger of the local taxi one Jamal Choudhary (22 M) were shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.

One Marshal Kharkongor (28 M) sustained injuries after he fell of his motorbike near Gorkha School, Upper Shillong, on Tuesday evening. He was shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.
