New building of Shella PS inaugurated

SHILLONG: The newly constructed building of the Shella Police Station was on Monday inaugurated by the Additional Director General of Police, BL Buam, in the presence of senior police officials of the district, besides the Rangbah Shnong and Sordar of that area.

The Shella police station, which had been operating from a rented building, will now operate from its own building at Saikarap.

Buam stated that this police station will serve the people of the area and help to maintain law and order in the society.

He called upon the people to work together with the police force and the BSF on various relevant issues pertaining to the safety and security of the region and the State as a whole.

Two police outposts-Tyllap OP and Mawlaganj OP – fall under the jurisdiction of the Shella Police Station.

Others who were present at the function included DIG (Eastern Range) A Sunn, East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang, SDPO Sohra Ian Onel Swer, Officer Incharge of Shella PS S Sharma and other police personnel besides local residents.
