SHILLONG: With the Assembly elections round the corner, Union Minister of State for Water Resources, Vincent Pala said he has no desire to join the state politics.

“Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma is doing a good job and I am happy being in Delhi”, Pala said over phone from the national capital on Wednesday .

During the change of leadership in the past, Pala’s name had also figured as an alternative.

Asked about the allegations of his role in fielding candidates who are close to him, Pala said, “This is absolutely wrong. Those who are in the fray would be Congress candidates”.

There were recurring allegations that Pala is projecting those close to him as candidates for Assembly elections due in 2013

According to him, Congress is very much united and he will support those candidates whose names are approved by the Congress High Command.

The Union Minister, who represents Shillong Lpk Sabha seat, also said that the selection process of the candidates was underway and hoped that the party would be able to finalize the list of candidates in due course of time.
