SHILLONG: The State government on Thursday assured security to the president of the Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong of Raid Nongtung in Ri Bhoi, Blikstar Sohtun who was recently threatened by two militant outfits of Karbi Anglong-KLNLF and the UPDS.

Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Thursday assured the members of the People’s Movement led by Nongkrem MLA Ardent Basaiawmoit that he would communicate with the district administration to ensure security to the elders of Raid Nongtung.

According to the village chief, on September 13 some members of the two militant outfits warned him against implementing the development schemes like MGNREGS in the 24 villages at the inter-state border.

It was further mentioned that the militant outfits wanted a share of the money which has been earmarked for the local villagers under the MNREGS.
