SHILLONG: HANM Western Ri-Bhoi Zone president K Thongni was released on Thursday after being in the custody of Assam Police for nearly a month.

Talking to reporters on the wake of his release, Thongni informed that he was arrested on September 20 at around 2AM from his residence by the Officer-in- charge of Patharkh-mah police outpost J Shadap.

After the arrest, he informed that Shadap handed him over to the Assam Police on that night itself.

While stating that he has no regret for his action in setting to fire the Assam police outpost which was illegally constructed at Umthana, Ri-Bhoi district, he said that there is nothing to feel embarrassed of since he is fighting in the right spirit for the people of Meghalaya.

Thongni also said that he would continue to remain with the organisation.
