 NONGPOH: Unknown miscreants severely assaulted the Rangbah Shnong of Myrdon Nongbah, Ri-Bhoi, Bipul P Thangkhiew after he was re-elected as the headman of the village on Saturday.

The headman, who received severe injuries on the head, was referred to GNRC, Guwahati after his condition deteriorated. Sources alleged that the miscreants were supporters of one K Maring, who was the other contestant for the post of Rangbah Shnong. Meanwhile, the police are yet to make any arrests in the case. The RBYF central body, of which Thangkhiew is the vice president urged the Ri-Bhoi police to nab the culprits at the earliest.
