SHILLONG: A police personnel sustained injuries on his head after being allegedly assaulted by two personnel belonging to the Assam Regiment at Laban on Sunday evening.

Police sources informed that the Assam Regiment personnel who had come to visit the Laban Shiv Mandir Pandal assaulted the police personnel after he told them not to park their vehicles at a No Parking Zone.

According to police sources, the police personnel would have been seriously injured if other police personnel who were on duty at the Pandal had not come to his rescue. Meanwhile, police sources said that the situation was brought under control after the intervention of few senior police officials.
