Rangbah Shnong assault case

NONGPOH: Two days after one Rangbah Shnong of Myrdon Nongbah, Bipul P Thangkhiew was brutally assaulted by some miscreants at Myrdon Nongbah village on Saturday, the attackers surrendered themselves before the Police at Umsning Outpost.

The attackers were identified as Lambha Sohktung (24), Wantreilang Sohktung (23), Bashem Jingsuk Sohktung (19) Jonison Sohktung (18) and Bin Lyngdoh (18), hailing from Myrdon Nongbah village.

It may be mentioned that the conflict started after Bipul P Thangkhiew was re-elected as the new Rangbah Shnong of the said village beating his opponent Shnong K Maring by 132 votes.

The group of attackers who are believed to be the supporters of K Maring, the other candidate for the Rangbah Shnong post, assaulted Thangkhiew who received severe head injuries and was admitted to GNRC Hospital, Guwahati.

Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong and RBYF besides condemning the incident has urged the Law Authority to take stern action against the culprits and book them as per the defined section of law, so that such incident would not occur in the future.
