Taxi association against parking fees

 NONGSTOIN: The Nongstoin Region Local Taxi Owners’ and Drivers’ Association (NRLTODA) in a General meeting held on Monday, decided to not pay parking lot fees to the Nongstoin Town Committee (NTC) w.e.f from November 6, 2012 as the Nongstoin Town Committee has not given any answer or clarification regarding the RTI filed by the Association.

It may be mentioning that, recently the Nongstoin Region Local Taxi Owners’ and Drivers’ Association (NRLTODA) expressed their resentment at the recent hike of the parking fee within Nongstoin from Rs 5/- to Rs 10/- which was implemented since the Sept 1.

“Till now we have no proper parking place. We used to park in the roadside which is the land of the PWD and nobody cares about the local taxi in Nongstoin” H.Lyngkhoi NRLTODA Vice President said.

Lyngkhoi also said that earlier, the Association has put forward many demands to the Town Committee to provide street lights to all the taxi stands in Nongstoin, permanent parking area to the local taxi and other related issues to keep Nongstoin clean. Regarding the RTI filed by the Association to the NTC, the Association has not received any answer and will soon put forward the complain to the Chief Information Officer.

In the meantime, the Association will hold a strike on November 12 to mark the protest against the misbehavior of one Khrikshon Lyngkhoi for destroying the local taxi of one Kolita Lyngdoh Rngaid on Oct 26 at Ladweitang.
