Woman dupes people with several lakhs in Jowai

 JOWAI: Many women in Jowai have been duped lakhs of rupees by a woman who has forged the signature of the JHADC Revenue Officer (RO) and its official seals for duplicating Land Holding Certificates (LHCs).

The woman identified as Manbha Kynjing of Ladthadlaboh main-road, after making fake land documents had approached many other women for loans by mortgaging the fake land documents.

“Based on the complains of some people, we have apprehended and detained her last August. The matter was resolved as she had promised to pay back the loan within two months but she had fail to do so”, HNPF President, Lone K Laloo informed.

“The woman continues to cheat many women in Jaintia hills. She took loans from many other women with a promise to pay it back in a short period of time but failed”, he added. Based on the victim’s complaints, the HNPF has again apprehended Kynjing on Monday.

She was taken to the Office of the HNPF at Ladlthadlaboh, Petrol pump where she revealed that she had taken money from Dawan Biam Rs 4.60 lakhs, M. Nartiang Rs 4 lakhs, B. Laloo Rs 1 lakh, R Dkhar Rs 3 lakhs, L Passah of Iawmusiang Rs 3 lakhs, T Warjri Rs 3 lakh and from Mela Pasi Rs 4.50 lakhs besides others.

On speaking to our Correspondent, Kynjing revealed that she along with other two people- Koles Pariat and Raja Tyrlong (Dkhar) alias Key has helped her to prepared fake JHADC Land Holding Certificates and making of the JHADC official Seals.

“I had prepared the faked documents of lands located at Ialong, Salaroh and Khim-u-sniang with the help of Koles and Raja”, Kynjing told media persons at the office of the HNPF.

“Only after such land documents was prepared I approached the people for the loans and they were ready to lend me money as I had promised to pay them with reasonable interest rates and mortgage the land suited for the building site”, she added.

Kynjing has not only cheated people and forged the JHADC Seals and the Revenue Officer’s signature but she has also registered landed property in the name of one Lari Mallang of Mynthong Jowai. Lari Mallang happened to be a resident of Chutwakhu Jowai.
