SHILLONG: The Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia (FKJGP) Mawsynram Circle has issued a warning to all those non-tribals who are based at Mawsynram as teachers, government employees besides other organizations to avoid bringing their relatives or family members to their quarters. This warning came after the recent murder case where a teacher of Mawsynram Higher Secondary School, Abdul Sattar from Nagaon in Assam was murdered at his quarter at Mawsynram last week due to clashes and differences which erupted between the accused and the victim at Nagaon, Assam. According to FKJGP Mawsynram Circle Education Secretary Morgan J Lyngdoh, after the incident, the federation will no longer allow any non-tribal to bring their relatives, friends and family members to their quarters at Mawsynram.

“If they bring tourists with them, we have no problem but they must not stay overnight at their quarters but be directed to the Inspection Bungalow (IB) and if anyone is found going against this, the person at fault will be chased away from the village”, Lyngdoh said.

The FKJGP has also warned the house owners and principals of various schools and colleges based at Mawsynram to be vigilant while renting their houses and while employing a non-tribal.
