SHILLONG: Police have arrested as many as three GNLA militants. While the self styled area commander of GNLA Haiderson Sangma was held in Assam border on Monday morning, two others were arrested from South West Khasi Hills recently. Sangma is alleged to have involved in transshipment of arms and ammunition to GNLA from Nagaland. According to police, Sangma was also involved in at least two kidnapping cases in Ri Bhoi. Meanwhile, South West Khasi Hills police have arrested two suspected GNLA cadres from Murgidara, a delayed report said on Monday. According to police, the duo was arrested following an operation carried out by police stationed at Nonghyllam. The arrested cadres have been identified as Aket N Marak (18) and George D Shira (25, both from Asimpara village near Balat. Demand notes, a mobile phone handset and three SIM cards were also seized from their possession, police said.
