General meet
The general meeting of the Shillong Municipal Employees’ Association will be held on November 29 at 3 pm in the office campus to discuss matters relating with grievances faced by the Association.
Science programme
A Winter School on ‘Interdisciplinary Sciences’ and a three-day training programme for Science students will be organized by the Science Departments, Lady Keane College. Chief Secretary WMS Pariat will be the chief guest at the inaugural function on November 29 at 9:30 am in the college seminar hall.
Career seminar
The University of Technology and Management (UTM) will organise a career seminar on ‘Global Trends & Career Opportunities in cloud computing and electronics and communication’ on November 30 at 10.30 am at the university campus. Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma will be the chief guest.
Dorbar members
The general meeting of the Lachumiere Dorbar held recently has elected its new office bearers for the year 2013-2015 with Dr W Kharshiing as Rangbah Shnong, L Iangrai as deputy Rangbah Shnong, Bhalang Phanbuh as secretary and BS Wahlang as treasurer.
College week
The Sohra Government College, Sohra concluded its college Week 2012 on November 24. The theme of the College Week was ‘Rise Higher, See Farther’. During the week-long celebration the college organised various events for the students.
Awards
The Sohra Government College, Sohra recently felicitated meritorious students who came out successful in the NEHU Degree Examinations 2012- Karalin Kharwanlang (BA Pol. Science) who secured 8th Position and Canysha Synrem (BA Pol. Science) who secured First Class.
National seminar
A one-day national seminar on national integration entitled ‘Road to Integration’ will be organized by the career and counseling cell, Lady Keane College on November 30 at 10am in the college auditorium. MLA Manas Chaudhuri will be present as the chief guest.
MLCU programme
The Department of Social Work, Martin Luther Christian University, will inaugurate the adoption of Mawpun Kshaid, Umiam on December 1 at 11am at Mawpun Kshaid, R- Bhoi district.
Consumer survey
The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited has undertaken computerization of energy billing system of Tura town and its adjoining areas under R-APDRP scheme and consumer survey of these areas is underway.
State council
The 10th state council of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides will be held on November 30 at 11am at the state headquarters, Pinemount Ridge, which will be chaired by its president WMS Pariat.
Unidentified body
One unidentified male beggar was found lying on the footpath near Sweety Bar, Polo and was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital, Shillong where he subsequently passed away. The body is being kept at the hospital morgue for identification.
