SHILLONG: To make the proposed shuttle bus service between Shillong and Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati more attractive, the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) is contemplating a tie-up with a few travel agencies to help people book their air tickets.
Indicating this here on Wednesday, Tableland Lyngwa, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the SMB said, “This would end inconveniences faced by people while booking their (air) tickets.”
Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh is scheduled to inaugurate the shuttle service between Shillong and the Guwahati airport by flagging off six deluxe Tata Wingers from the parking lot opposite SBI main branch on December 7 at 8.30 am.
The airport shuttle service will operate on a daily basis between Shillong and LGBI Airport at 6 am and 9 am and the tickets will be priced at Rs 350 per passenger.
According to the SMB CEO, for passengers travelling from Guwahati airport to Shillong, arrangements have been made at the ticket counter located near the luggage collection centre at the airport.
He said that as per the estimates, the operational cost for the airport shuttle service would come to around Rs 3.20 lakh monthly.
“We are expecting to get around Rs 5.40 lakh as revenue every month,” SMB CEO added.
He informed that the passengers would have the option of booking tickets in advance or directly buying them from the counter, provided tickets are available.
Lyngwa also informed that the SMB has a tie up with Synroplang Self Help Group for operating this airport shuttle service.
