NPP candidate for Rajabala seat

The Purno Sangma-led National’s People Party (NPP) on Tuesday announced the name of Sofior Rahman as the party candidate from Rajabala Consitituency. With this the total number of candidates declared so far by the NPP has gone up to 33.

Inaugural issue of journal released

The inaugural issue of the journal ‘The Political Anvil’ was released at Synod College on Monday, to coincide with the observation of Human Rights Day. This journal is the initiative of the Department of Political Science, Synod College. Prof LS Gassah, Dean, School of Social Sciences, NEHU, was the chief guest on the occasion.

National Endowment Lecture

The Fourth Pundit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar National Endowment Lecture will be organized by Women’s College on December 14 at 2pm at its auditorium to be delivered by Prof Asok Kumar Mukhopadhyay, Emeritus Fellow Political Science, University Grants Commission; formerly Professor of Political Science, Calcutta University; formerly Professor of Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. Prof Mukhopadhyay will speak on ‘National Integration: Perception of Swami Vivekananda’. A cultural programme will follow the lecture.

Corrigendum

Apropos the photo caption and news item which appeared in ST (December 9 and 11), the surname Kharwanlang was mistakenly printed as Kharmawphlang. The error is regretted.

Foundation stone of bridge

PWD minister HDR Lyngdoh will lay the foundation stone for construction of a bridge at Nongpathaw via Mawmih on December 18 at 11am.
