CM lays medical college base

TURA: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma on Wednesday laid the foundation of the first government medical college in Garo Hills near Damalgre, around 25 kilometers from Tura.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Sangma stated that history had been created today for the people of Meghalaya as the state would now be able to produce its own doctors and said that another Medical College under PPP mode would be set up very soon.

He said this medical college is scheduled to be completed in three years time and added that the government was awaiting the final DPR. Besides others, Deputy Chief Minister incharge Health Rowell Lyngdoh also spoke on the occasion.
