Pynthorbah win football final

SHILLONG: The final of the Women’s Football Tournament of the Shillong Games 2012, won by Pynthorbah SC over Malki SC was a well-contested match where both teams displayed excellent skill and ball control, which delighted a sizeable crowd who came to witness the match.

Neither team was able to dominate, as both attacked and defended their citadels strongly.

It was only in the 25th minute, by utilising a cross from Darihun, that the ball went to an unmarked Solina Jaba, who made no mistake to help her team take a 1-0 lead until the end of the first half.

It was a story of missed chances for Malki in the second half as two open net chances came their way with only the goalkeeper to beat, but the ball went wide.

However Darihun Pyngrope’s long shot took the Malki goalie by surprise in the 41st minute ensuring Pynthorbah a 2-0 lead.

With the match coming to a finish, Balutmon Nengnong made no mistake to convert a free kick just outside the box to make the scoreline 3-0 for the winners.
