Agartala: The outraging of modesty of a middle aged woman in broad daylight on December 20 at Rangapania village of Bishalgarh, about 30 kms from here, has now become a political issue for both the ruling CPI-(M) and opposition Congress.
The parties have been accusing each other of their involvement in the incident and launched protest rallies and demonstrations across the state demanding exemplary punishment to the culprits.
The CPI-(M) women wing has announced to go for mass movement against the Centre’s failure to ensure protection to women across the country while opposition Congress held the state government responsible for the increasing incidences of crime against women in Tripura. Meanwhile, Director General of Police Sanjoy Sinha has asserted that the police had been doing its best to take action against such criminals.” Being a social animal it is our primary responsibility to upgrade the moral of the youngsters and enforce social actions to contain crime against women,” Sinha said.
