Cashless ATM infuriates shoppers

NONGSTOIN: The lone State Bank of India ATM at Nongstoin has been shut since December 24 with the reason being that the cash available has depleted. Most of the customers have since being facing problems galore.

With Christmas season in the air, people were unable to procure gifts and had to celebrate a Christmas in a sober manner, thanks to the empty cash machines at the service of the people.

Most of the infuriated customers tried calling the Branch Manager but found his phone switched off.

The lone ATM caters to over ten thousand customers and many infuriated customers say that they would close their accounts and open new ones with other banks.

Residents have stated that SBI, MRB, Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank and HDFC bank branches are not enough for a thousand bankers in Nongstoin which is seeing an economic surge of late.
