TJ Rangad’s bust unveiled

The Bust of (Late) Thranghok J Rangad was unveiled by his wife Jopsimon Phanbuh and family members at Laban Red Cross Point on Saturday. (ST)

 SHILLONG: It was an emotional and unforgettable moment for the family of late Laban MLA Thranghok J Rangad whose bust was unveiled at Red Cross Point here in the city on Saturday.

The bust assumes significance in view of the contributions made by Thranghok J Rangad during his tenure as the MLA and as a minister.

Speaking on the occasion, present Laban MLA, Sanbor Shullai made it clear that no group, individual or political party would be allowed to take any political mileage out of the new bust which has been erected to remember the services of Thranghok J Rangad towards the people of Laban area in particular and the state in general.

While recalling the noble deeds of the late legislator, Sanbor Shullai also termed Thranghok J Rangad as the best legislator and minister of the state.

Earlier, GAD minister AL Hek also asserted that the Thranghok J Rangad throughout his tenure as a politician devoted his life for the welfare of the people.

Though the bust has been unveiled, the maintenance of the bust is still a major concern and therefore the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides has been authorized to maintain the bust.

The official of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides while speaking on the occasion said that a committee would be formed to ensure that the bust is kept clean and well maintained.

It may be mentioned that Rangad, a BJP MLA was also the Home minister of the state for a very long time. Family members of Rangad besides the residents of Laban were also present on the occasion.
