Agartala: Despite problems over land acquisition, Udaipur will have Broad Gauge (BG) facility by December 2014, said Chief Engineer of NFR (Construction) Harpal Singh.
Singh who visited eight proposed rail stations starting from Suryamaninagar along with PWD Minister Badal Chowdhury and MP Khagen Das told the media BG conversion work is in full swing from Lumding to Agartala.
“The BG conversion work upto Udaipur is expected to get over by December 2014 as planned by the NFR authority. Works have already got underway to achieve the target”, Singh said in present of PWD Minister and MP at the proposed Jolaibari rail station recently.
As many as 127 small and big bridges are needed to be constructed in between Agartala and Udaipur. The work on the longest bridge (189 meters) over river Gomati at Tepania has been progressing as per schedule. An amount of Rs. 22 crore will be spent to construct the key bridge.
“If everything falls in place, people of Tripura will be able to board Rajdhani Express by December 2014. We are working round the clock to bring the BG train upto Udaipur within the stipulated time”, he claimed.
Singh further said people of Sabroom will see railhead by December 2015 if problem related to land acquisition get solved at the earliest.
Sources said, the problem centering land acquisition at Brajapur (Bishalgarh) is expected to be over within next 15 days with villagers agreeing to leave the land.
