Election dept to monitor MLA scheme implementation

SHILLONG: The State Election department has taken serious note of the reports that sitting legislator from Mylliem, Ronnie V Lyngdoh (Congress) is planning to distribute CGI sheets to the beneficiaries under the MLA Scheme.
The Election department has take note of the matter after it was informed that huge quantities of CGI sheets were found stored in various areas in and around the constituency.
“We have got reports about these CGI sheets in Mylliem constituency,” East Khasi Hills District Election Officer Sanjay Goyal said here on Monday.
With the model code of conduct coming into force in view of the upcoming Assembly election, he said that they would closely follow up this matter to ensure that the sitting legislator is prevented from distributing these CGI sheets under the MLA Scheme.
