Murder case
On January 13, police arrested two people, one Kular Sungoh (33) and one Skhem Suchiang (32) in the connection with a murder case under the Jowai PS.
Theft
On the evening of January 10, some unknown miscreants stole car accessories valued around Rs 1,99,573 from the shop of one Arkoswell Khyllait at Sohiong, East Khasi Hills.
On December 22, 2012, unknown miscreants stole underground telephone cables valued around Rs 40,000 from Lukier Road, Garikhana.
Threatened
A complaint was lodged by one Manik Mazumdar, at the Shillong Sadar PS, that on January 13, he received an anonymous call threatening him to withdraw the Court Case against one Gangarani Angon.
Assault
On the evening of January 13, one Nohing Lamare assaulted one Blesting Khymdeit (22) with a dao at Sonidan, Ri Bhoi District. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.
A complaint was lodged at the Lumdiengjri PS that on the evening December 26, 2012, unidentified miscreants assaulted one Clarus Pde at Jeep Stand, Qualapatty Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Woodland Hospital, Shillong where he succumbed to his injuries on December 28, 2012.
Extortion
On the evening of January 13, police arrested four people, Silseng A Sangma (18), Pule R Marak (21), Simplong R Marak (21) and Bulian R Sangma (22) while they were extorting money from Nengkhra Petrol Pump East Garo Hills. One pistol was recovered and seized from their possession.
Hit and run
On January 9, one Maruti car (ML-09-9314) knocked down an armed branch constable Rashidur Rahman while he was on duty at Mawlai. As a result, the victim sustained injuries. Later, police recovered the vehicle near Hotel Broadway, Police Bazaar. A criminal case has been registered at Mawlai PS.
Molestation
One Wanseng Sangma lodged a complaint at the Ampati PS that on the evening of January 9, his family members apprehended one Pulbabu Islam while he along with his two accomplices attempted to molest his daughter at the former’s house at Megapgre South West Garo Hills. However, his accomplices managed to escape.
