ECI constitutes flying squads ahead of poll

Agartala: The election commission of India (ECI) has constituted special flying squad at police station level to prevent distribution of cash, liquor and other items for gratification of voters ahead of assembly poll slated on Feb 14.

The election authority has issued public notification in this regard on Wednesday asking people to avoid carry a huge amount of cash and if carrying cash they have to possess PAN card, bank passbook and credit and debit statement of the account.

“Copy of the cash book in case the business involving regular cash transaction and evidence for end-use like marriage or other social gathering and any other purpose,” the notification pointed out.

It has also made it clear that any act to gratify the voters would be considered as bribery and both offering and accepting bribe is punishable offence with imprisonment up to one year and fine. (UNI)
