Restrictions imposed

With the enforcement of the Model of Conduct for the upcoming Assembly elections in the State, the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills district has put on hold all matters relating to fete, lucky draw or mela and other entertainment activities till the election process is over. He informed that the decision was taken in the meeting held in the Deputy Commissioner’s office on January 14.

Meeting cancelled

The General Dorbar of Nongtynger clan scheduled for January 22 at Kulang village has been cancelled as it clashes with general elections. The re-scheduled date for Dorbar meet will be announced later.

Sec 144 imposed

The West Khasi hills District Magistrate has promulgated section 144 CrPC in the district in view of the Assembly elections scheduled to be held on February 23.
