SHILLONG: NCP president and Laban legislator Sanbor Shullai on Friday finally replied to the show cause notice on the alleged violation of the model code of conduct.
Explaining the one-day delay in submitting his reply, Shullai said that he had been campaigning in Garo Hills and had received the notice only on Wednesday.
“I was not aware that distribution of utility items to the beneficiaries amounts to violation of the model code of conduct,” Shullai stated in the reply, while also claiming that the distribution of the utility items is an ongoing scheme.
Meanwhile, District Election Officer Sanjay Goyal said that he would forward Shullai’s reply to the State’s Chief Electoral Officer Prashant Naik for necessary action.
