Annual Procession

The St. Peter’s Paul Pynthorumkhrah Parish will hold the annual Eucharistic Procession on February 3 and the day will start with a Holy Mass at 10 am.

National Girl Child Day

Meghalaya State Social Welfare Board, Shillong, will observe the National Girl Child Day with workshops and seminars on January 29.

Committee formed

An adhoc Block Congress Committee was formed at Bajengdoba constituency during a meeting held recently. Also, Adolf Lu Hitler Marak has said that the Congress party does not cease to exist because a few individuals have resigned from the party.

Voters’ Day

The National Voters’ Day will be celebrated at the Arts and Culture Hall on January 24 from 4 pm onwards.

Mucisal event

All India Radio, Shillong, will hold a Musical Festival entitled Ki Sur Ieit Ri on January 29 at 2pm at the Sri Aurobindo Cultural Hall. Noted artists like Khorsha Kordor Marbaniang, EW Kharsahnoh, Lyngkitbait Lyngdoh, Silbi Passah and others will perform at the programme.

Resignation

Manisha Warjri has resigned from the BJP along with her supporters and joined KHNAM. She will now contest the upcoming election from Nongthymmai constituency from the KHNAM.

Notice

The Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer, East Khasi Hills, has informed all government employees that appointment orders have been issued to all the polling officers for the ensuing Assembly Election 2013 whose names have been forwarded by respective head of office. All said employees are to report at the State Central Library on January 24 at 10 am, failing of which action as per law will be taken against them.

Seng Samla Week

The Seng Samla Wahingdoh will organise a closing ceremony of the Seng Samla Week on January 25 at the Wahingdoh Community Hall at 2pm. Local MLA Friday Lyngdoh will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Prohibition

The Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi has banned use of boulders, stones etc., by local residents along NH-40 as these are required for construction purposes on the four-lane project. Stating that these boulder stones are the property of the government and required for construction of the four-lane highway, the DC said removing of these boulders stone for their own use amounts to theft for which they are liable for prosecution under the law.
