Ampareen gets richer since 2008; PM Syiem, Braston Kharphuli have richer spouse

 SHILLONG: Sitting Congress legislator from Laitumkhrah, Ampareen Lyngdoh, has become richer in the last five years, if comparisons are drawn between the assets she declared this time and in 2008 while filing her nomination papers.

In her affidavit which she had filed in 2008, Lyngdoh had indicated that she had a total amount of Rs 23,000 in her account while she had a liability of Rs 1.27 lakh.

However, in her latest affidavit which she submitted along with her nomination on Wednesday, Ampareen has declared movable assets amounting to Rs 21.86 lakh.

The sitting Laitumkhrah legislator, who is a PhD holder, has also stated that she owns gold earrings worth Rs 5000, gold finger rings worth Rs 7000 and a bracelet worth Rs 12000.

Ampareen also claimed that she does not own any immovable property while she has cash in hand amounting to Rs 2.50 lakh.

Meanwhile, in his affidavit, former legislator Pynshai Manik Syiem, who is contesting from Mawphlang as an Independent, has declared that he owns movable assets worth Rs 11.40 lakh.

Interestingly, Syiem wife’s Larisa Thangkhiew is richer since she has a self-acquired property whose present market value is Rs 50 lakh. Besides, the wife also owns movable assets worth Rs 3.54 lakh.

Syiem, who is an LLB degree holder, has a liability of Rs 6.27 lakh while he has taken a loan of Rs 5.37 lakh from the bank.

Meanwhile, Syiem’s daughter, Teilinia Thangkhiew, who is contesting from Mylliem as an Independent candidate, has declared in her affidavit that she owns movable assets worth Rs 17.49 lakh while her husband Darry T Cooper Kharmujai owns movable asset amounting to Rs 1.66 lakh.

Thangkhiew, who holds a degree in Tourism and Tourist Management from Bangalore, possesses inherited asset of Rs 20 lakh.

She also mentioned that she has one gold ring amounting to Rs 16,000, one gold chain amounting to Rs 50,000 and one pair of earrings amounting to Rs 30,000. Thangkhiew who is the sitting MDC from Mylliem has a total liability of Rs 5.74 lakh.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate from Jirang, Barnabas Nangbah in his affidavit has declared movable asset of Rs 51.30 lakh while his wife owns movable asset of Rs 12.46 lakh.

Nangbah, a graduate, owns immovable assets having a present market value of Rs 3.21 crore while his spouse also has immovable asset worth Rs 58 lakh.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate from Mawryngkneng Pynehborlang Mukhim in his affidavit has declared that he has movable assets amounting to Rs 35.74 lakh.

Mukhim, who has a diploma certificate in textile technology, owns a Mahindra Bolero whose present market value is Rs 7 lakh, and a truck whose present market value is Rs 16 lakh.

Meanwhile, UDP candidate from Sohiong, Braston Kharphuli in his affidavit has declared that he has a movable asset of Rs 5.41 lakh.

Interestingly, Kharphuli’s spouse is richer than him with a net movable asset of Rs 53.03 lakh. Not only this, the spouse owns four trucks, one tourist taxi and one local taxi whose present market value is Rs 41 lakh. Mukhim has declared that he owns a Mahindra Bolero whose present market value is Rs 3 lakh. The wife also owns immovable property whose present market value is Rs 5 lakh.
