SHILLONG: Members of the Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress (MPMC) on Thursday dismissed news reports that All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) general secretary Poonam Rani Wangkhem had questioned the policy of the party in allotment of tickets while speaking at the meeting of the 17-North Shillong Mahila Congress.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, MPMC general secretaries M Ryngkhlem and K Marbaniang termed news report claiming that Wangkhem ‘admitted’ that the ‘disastrous distribution of tickets’ by the leadership has compelled several prominent leaders to leave the party, as non-factual. “We state that nothing of this sort was spoken by Wangkhem who is also the in charge of the Mahila Congress in the State,” the MPMC said while also claiming that the thrust of Wangkhem’s speech was on the importance of building up the Congress, in general, and the Mahila Congress, in particular.
