Arson

On the night ofJanuary 26 , unknown miscreants set fire to a shed belonging to M/s Airtel Telecommunications at Mawkhan village, East Khasi Hills. As a result, one Generator and other equipments were damaged. Loss of property is estimated at Rs. 33, 60, 000. Matter is under enquiry.

Assault and rape

On January 30, unidentified miscreants assaulted one Hanen Chanda (34) at Ichamati East Khasi Hills. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was moved to Nazareth Hospital, Shillong. Matter is under enquiry.

On the night of January 28, two persons, Merio Phawa (26) and Leading Phawa (18), assaulted a person at Musiang village East Jaintia Hills and forcibly took his wife to a nearby jungle where they raped her.

On the night of January 28, four people, one Bud Iakai, Dwel Lyngdoh, Ngamon Bamon and Hum Chyrmang assaulted and threatened one T Lamurong and Klos Lamurong with dire consequences at Jalaphet Bri Sumer East Jaintia Hills.

One Marbud Iakai lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on the morning of January 28, while he was proceeding from Khliehriat towards Umkyrpong, two persons, Klan Lamurong and Ting Lamurong attempted to run him over with their vehicle.

One Shamila B Sangma lodged a complaint at the Tikrikilla PS that on the late afternoon of January 26, three persons, Seldang Ch. Marak, Mahar Ch Marak and Killar Ch Marak assaulted her husband, Mangala Ch Marak with an iron rod at Matramchigre West Garo Hills. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and succumbed to his injuries on January 27.

Bodies recovered

On the morning of January 30, Samar Das (60) was found dead at Polo Super Market, Shillong.

On the morning January 29, Ronny Pyrtuh (39) was found dead in the building of Meghalaya Basin Development Authority at Laitumkhrah, Shillong.

On the evening of January 12, one unidentified person was found unconscious at Mawlonghat, Shillong. He was shifted to CH Shillong where he died on January 29.

Theft and fraud

On January 30, unknown miscreants stole one Maruti car (ML-05G-5035) belonging one Rolinstar Syiemlieh from Mawiong Umjapung, Shillong. Later, the vehicle was recovered from Sumer Ri Bhoi.

On the afternoon of January 24, Iahunlang Lyndem stole Rs 2,50,855 from the house of one Kransil Buhsan at Khliehshnong, Sohra East Khasi Hills.

One Ramgopal Agarwal lodged a complaint at Umiam PS that during the wee hours of January 27, his employees, Ranjit Singh Mahato and Raju Mahato stole Rs 1,50,000 and goods valued around Rs. 45,000 from his shop at Nongsder Ri Bhoi and fled in a Tourist taxi (ML-10A-3411).

One Dwina Rymbai lodged a complaint at the Shillong Sadar PS that Madhu, Accountant of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co Ltd Shillong Branch had misappropriated Rs 30,000 being the premium deposited on January 31, 2011.

BDO of Resubelpara, MD Arengh lodged a complaint at Mendipathar PS that on the evening of January 21, unidentified armed miscreants robbed Rs 2,45,780 meant for a local Job Card holders from the President & Secretary of Chitukona Garo VEC at Damas Rangsi North Garo Hills. They also took away one motorcycle and two cell-phones. When contacted, police refused on any possibility of collusion between the members of the VEC and the miscreant stating that it would hamper the investigation.

On the morning of January 27, unknown miscreants stole Rs 55,000 and two cell-phones from Holy Cross Convent, Salpara North Garo Hills.

Threat case

One Biang Sungoh lodged a complaint at the Jowai PS that on January 22, one Wit Phawa trespassed into her compound at New Hill, Jowai West Jaintia Hills, chased away her family members and put the house under lock and key. The accused also threatened the complainant with dire consequences.
