Kohima: Former chief minister and former governor Dr S C Jamir has said, there was no security in Nagaland and the greatest contribution of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government was ‘insecurity of life”.

Addressing an election meeting at Dimapur Club ground for Pradesh Congress president S I Jamir for the Dimapur-II seat yesterday, Dr Jamir said everybody, including MLAs, Gaon burahs or NGOs, ‘fear to tell the truth’.

“How long can Naga people suffer under the shadow of fear psychosis?” he asked. ‘The fear factor cannot be removed by the Naga Peoples Front (NPF) but by the Congress as it has a concern and an answer,’ he added.

Dr Jamir said once the Congress comes to power, the 6th Pay Commission Report will be implemented as a bonus for those who were ‘thrown out by the DAN Government’. He said the Centre had lost confidence in Rio’s government because it was a ‘cheating party,’ which cheated the people as well as the ‘underground’.

He further said to solve the long-standing Naga problem, the approach was through the front door and only the Congress can do as it is in power in the Centre. It can explain the problems Nagas face.

Incidentally, the veteran Congress leader had decided not to contest in the February 23 elections but declared to campaign for the party. (UNI)
