Murder
Two persons, Boss and Lanstar Syiemlieh, were on Tuesday arrested for allegedly murdering one Manful Lyngdoh (32) at Nongtrai village in East Khasi Hills. Police have seized a dao (machete) from the accused.
Rape
On February 4 at around 6.30 pm, one unidentified person allegedly raped one woman (35) at Lower Motinagar, Shillong. Matter is under enquiry.
Extortion case
On February 3 around 6.30 am, police arrested three persons – Belnang A Sangma (20), Graham G Momin (25) and Jalho Momin (50) while they were extorting money from truckers at Gabil in East Garo Hills. Police seized Rs 8,500, money receipts and a book of smoke testing centre from their possession.
Assault/ threat
Mondaystar Nongtdu, Jasban Chyrmang and Charos Nongtdu lodged a joint complaint at Khliehriat PS that on February 3 at around 12.15 pm, five persons – Hawni Lyngdoh, Shwa Sutnga, Friday Pakem, John Paul Shylla and Amos Shylla – threatened them with dire consequences and also assaulted Mondaystar Sutnga at Mookympat in East Jaintia Hills. Police have arrested four of the accused, Hawni Lyngdoh, Friday Pakem, John Paul Shylla and Amos Shylla.
One Amon Gympat, a police constable, lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on February 2 at around 4.30 am one Hawni Lyngdoh threatened him with dire consequences.
One Embi Sana, Headman of Tuber Kmai Shnong in East Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on February 2 at around 3 pm, he received calls from mobile phone Nos. 7308972888, 9856454800 & 9612414192 in which the callers threatened him with dire consequences. In this connection, police have arrested three persons – Shaina Ksoo, Man Shylla and Tomi Ksoo.
Abduction
One Kisna Paswan Singh lodged a complaint at Khliehriat PS that on February 1 at around 7 pm, four unidentified armed miscreants abducted one Ajay Das (24) from Rymbai Road in East Jaintia Hills. Subsequently on February 4, the victim was rescued and handed over to his relatives.
