JOWAI: The cracks that surfaced in the Rymbai Primary Health Centre had appeared back in 2010, Health department sources informed on Wednesday.
Sources informed that minor cracks had surfaced in 2010 and a complain was lodged with the Dorbar Shnong, the Church Committee and the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) to restrict unscientific mining in the area.
“Since 2010 several complaints have been lodged with the Rymbai Presbyterian Church, the Rymbai village authority and also to the Health Department,” sources said.
Even though the Dorbar Shnong had taken steps to control the damage by issuing strong warning to the mine owners around the PHC, the latter continued rat-hole mining outside its premises.
Subsequently, cracks appeared in and around the PHC building on Monday afternoon bringing the smooth functioning of the Rymbai PHC to a halt.
The DM & HO Dr. B Lato held a meeting with doctors and staff of the PHC here on Wednesday to ensure that all sub-centres under Rymbai PHC should function normally.
