Congress blamed for using muscle power

SHILLONG: The State BJP has accused the Congress of using force to get the votes of people in the poll bound state scheduled to go to polls on February 23.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakaraborty said that one of the BJP candidates from Kharkutte, ED Marak was looted while he was going to file his nominations.

“Not only this, Bhupendra B Hajong’s supporters from Salmanpara and our Nongthymmai candidate are being terrorized,” he told reporters

According to BJP, a lot of political violence is being reported from different parts of the State including Garo Hills to set the domination of Congress in the State.

“Congress is getting desperate for getting votes of the people,” he said while adding that if the situation remains the same, the party would move to the Election Commission of India with a complaint.

The party also took a dig at the Chief Minister for his recent statement against BJP leader Kiren Rijiju and demanded an apology from the Chief Minister for his statements.

The Chief Minister had said that the BJP leader did not have any knowledge of the local situation.

“The statement of the Chief Minister is nothing but a political propaganda,” he told reporters.
